Italian Wine Dinner Extravaganza with 3 Amazing Wineries

Thursday 9th February

7pm Start

£79 per person

We are delighted to announce that we have three of North East Italy's finest wineries at Park House on the 9th of February.

We realise that this is rather late notice but when the opportunity came up to host 3 of the top wine producers in Italy we couldn’t refuse.

This dinner came about because winemakers and representatives of Bertani, Ferrari and Jermann are hosting a private client lunch on the same day and we have persuaded them to stay for the evening to do a dinner for you!
The plan is to match nine wines, 3 from each winery with 9 courses.  Head Chef Iain has come up with some fantastic dishes to match the wines and wait till you try Karl the Pastry Chefs Chocolate dessert!   Menu is available to download on the Righthand side of this page.

This dinner is an absolute bargain because the wineries have agreed to provide the wines for free so you just pay for the food!   The wines that we have chosen to show retail collectively for over £500, so this really is a great chance to have amazing wine & food introduced by the individual wineries.

Ferrari is famous for making Italy's top sparkling wine in the traditional way with the champagne grapes, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.  We are lucky enough to try 3 of the sparkling wines with the highlight being the world class 2004 Giulio Riserva
Bertani are the original Amarone house of Veneto dating back to 1857 and are iconic for their traditional style of Amarone.   We are delighted to be able to show 3 of the wines including the mesmerising 2007 Amarone Classico
Jermann wines are highly sort after and usually sold on an allocation basis.  We are delighted to show both his world famous 'Dreams' Chardonnay and Red Angel Pinot Noir.

A brief Summary of the Wineries attending

Ferrari, Trentino-Alto Adige
Ferrari is the leading producer in Italy of sparkling wine made exclusively by the 'Metodo Classico' or classical method, where the second fermentation takes place in the bottle itself. Ferrari was born over a century ago in 1902 through the efforts of Giulio Ferrari. After his studies in France, Ferrari returned to Trentino, Italy and planted Chardonnay, which no one had done before. Ferrari was convinced that through the combination of Trentino terroir, the innovative use of Chardonnay and the use of the traditional “metodo classico”, he could make world-class sparkling wines. By 1906, the awards started to roll in and Ferrari was well on its way to producing what would shortly become the most famous sparkling wine in all of Italy. In 1952, Giulio Ferrari, not having any children, chose Bruno Lunelli, a friend and local merchant as successor for his beloved business. Today the third generation of the Lunelli family is at the helm and the winery could not be in better hands as it continues to be a perennial Tre Bicchieri winner.

Bertani, Veneto
First established in 1857, today Bertani is still owned by the same family and vaunts more than a century and a half of unbroken tradition in the wines of Valpolicella. The company is based in a jaw-droppingly lovely villa and nurtures one of the largest libraries of amazing old vintages in the region, some of which can be made available on request. There is even a cache of 1928 “Acinatico” which had been hidden behind a brick wall from the German occupiers and not rediscovered until 1984. However, Bertani is not just history and rows of large, old Slavonian oak vats. The company has continuously been at the forefront of innovation. The company vineyard holdings now comprise 200 hectares in the classic areas of Valpolicella, Valpantena, Soave and Lake Garda.

Jermann, Friuli-Venezia Giulia
Sandwiched next to the Slovenian border in the North East corner of Italy, Friuli has had a history of producing light aromatic white wines of immense drinkability but of little interest outside the region. Silvio Jermann has almost single handedly changed that. Silvio is widely considered to be a true 'artist' in the production of wines from his region, he is one of Friuli's top winemakers, producing small quantities of finely honed wines usually pre-sold on allocation. His style is to bring out floral aromas and piercing varietal character along with subtlety and elegance, resulting in very long wines with good ageing potential.
